Art Egyptien Art Egyptien: Amulet
€ 12,50
Nubie (700 - 300 v.C.)
Product description
The brilliant amulet is a composition of: 1. The Ankh cross with the open eye symbolizing eternal life. The square medallion in the opening depicts the god Heh. 2. The Djed column with the four horizontal bars, often associated with Osiris, the king of eternity, and also seen as a sign of stability. 3. The divine Was scepter, depicted in relief on the column, with the head of the Seth animal. The scepter is the sign of the god Seth's power over chaos, which he could create as god of storms and thunder. The amulet was found at the sacred Table Mountain Djebel Barkal in Nubia (northern Sudan). The area was added to the Egyptian empire by Thutmose III around 1450 BCE.
